RM of Milden’s story
The Rural Municipality of Milden No. 286 was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 12, 1910. It surrounds the villages of Dinsmore, Milden and Wiseton, and the RM office is in Milden.
Two lakes lie within its boundaries, Barber Lake and Milden Lake. Barber Lake and its outflow, Macdonald Creek, are part of the Barber Lake Important Bird Area, which covers about 56 square kilometres and is important habitat for birds such as the canvasback, Ross's goose, eared grebe, ferruginous hawk, long-billed curlew and chestnut-collared longspur.
Today visitors can enjoy Milden Lake and see local history at the Milden Community Museum and the Yester Years Community Museum. The RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, and Highways 15, 42, 44 and 655 pass through it.
